3 What is Title I? Federally funded program designed to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to attain a high quality education – Ensure academic success on local, state and national assessment – Ensure programs are aligned with challenging State academic standards – Meet the needs of low achieving students in our Nation’s highest-poverty schools, limited English proficiency, migratory children, neglected or delinquent, and children with disabilities – Close the achievement gap – Improve strength the accountability, teaching and learning – Provide flexibility to schools and teachers in exchange for greater responsibility – Encourage enrich school-wide programs 3

Title 1 Parent Liaison Data Support Specialist Materials and Resources for the Parent Resource Room Professional Development for teachers Site License for content providers, online resources and software Technology Resources: Computers, Cameras, Flash Drives, etc. Saturday Academy Teachers/Materials Content Manipulatives for all students (Science, Social Studies, Math) 5

6 Fulton County’s District Parental Involvement Statement 6 Parental Involvement When schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more.” That’s the conclusion of A New Wave of Evidence, a report from Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (2002). Parent Involvement Statement: The statement is available for review at any time in the Title 1 Binder. Title 1 Parent Compact: It is a written commitment describing how all members of a school-parents, faculty, staff and students agree to share responsibility for improved student achievement.
