6 6 New and Improved Tools Added or Improved since version 3.0.1 general Support for hard-link migration stores Improved space estimation and volume shadow copy support Ability to gather data from an offline Windows operating system Integration with ConfigMgr 2007 and MDT 2010 scanstate /listfiles /hardlink /offlinewindir and /offlinewinold /vsc loadstate /hardlink /auto usmtutil /ec /rd

7 7 Automation and Data Store Locations Automation Scripting Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 ConfigMgr 2007 (easier with MDT 2010 integration) Local data stores (refresh scenario) Hard-link migration Remote data stores (refresh and replace scenario) Network share ConfigMgr 2007 state migration point Removable store Flash drives Portable hard disk

8 8 Exploring USMT 4.0 > Using USMT Manually > Using USMT with MDT 2010 > Using USMT with ConfigMgr 2007 demo

9 9 Summary USMT 4.0 can be used: on individual computers by manually running scanstate/loadstate automatically from within Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 automatically from within ConfigMgr 2007 Local data stores: Hard-link migration to keep files stored locally and eliminate copying Remote data stores: Network shares (manual and MDT 2010) ConfigMgr 2007 state migration point Removable stores: Flash drives Portable hard disk
