2 Scriptural Precedents for Use of Bible in Worship The Old Testament Neh 7:73-8:8 Ezra’s reading of the Law The New Testament Luke 4:16-22 Jesus read it in a synagogue. 1 Tim 4:13 Paul urges Timothy of public reading of the Scripture.

3 Prominence of the Scripture 1. Use a separate podium for the Scriptural reading. 2. Procession of the Scripture. 3. Hold the Scripture in revered way while preaching.

4 Introduction and Conclusion for Scriptural Reading Introduction Few words of introduction of the passage is helpful. Emphasize the importance of the Bible. Conclusion Blessing is in His Word. Simple words, “Amen,” or nothing.

5 How to Read the Scripture? 1. Handle it reverently. 2. Announce the passage intelligently and distinctly. 3. Read the passage interpretively and clearly, emphasizing important words with a variety of voices. 4. Read with a sense of rhythm. 5. Read ordinarily without interrupting the text. 6. Practice reading out loud. 7. Responsively.
