2 Focus on what’s needed for Open Science Grid to start operations. Evolve structures and procedures in the future as needed.

3 Governance Documents Charter (Dec. 2004) By-Laws (Feb. 2005) Governance Procedures (Today) For users and providers: (Feb. 2005) –Service Agreement –Acceptable Use Policy –Revisions to synch with LCG are imminent Everything we need for initial OSG operations is in place by tomorrow.

4 Governing Bodies Let’s go through these one by one.

5 Council One representative per member organization. Initial member organizations selected by tg- governance via By-Laws process. Reps. Chosen by Orgs themselves after solicitation from Pordes & fkw All filled except BTeV, ANL, JLAB, VDT Is that good enough to get going? Meets via phone on Tuesdays 10am pacific as needed. Meetings convened by fkw as Chair of ieb.

6 IEB Activities Everything concerning governance of OSG was deliberated and dealt with in the open by tg-governance or the council. Very few email exchanges, and no meetings within the ieb, excluding the council. Thus, nothing to report. Is there a need to establish EB now?

7 Advisory Committee Do not have one. Is there a need to establish one now?

8 Technical groups Anybody can propose one to Council or Executive Board. Somebody on Council or Executive Board propose chairs & charge. Council or Executive Board deliberates and approves.

10 Activities Anybody within OSG may form one. Only required to inform Council & EB so that tg’s and other activities can be informed to allow for co-ordination. Truly a self-organized structure.

13 Summary As part of this morning’s discussion on governing procedures, I’d like to understand if people think this is good enough to get started. Personally, I think it’s good enough. Announcement OSG has a Grid Communicator: Kate Y.
