BELL QUIZ ANSWERS 1)The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the nation for just $15 million. 2)The federal government forced the Native Americans to move from the South and the Midwest to reservations in Oklahoma. The 800 mile journey resulted in the death of 25% of the Native American population. 3)Manifest Destiny=The belief that it was the duty of the United States to expand westward to the Pacific Ocean and into Mexican and Native American territory. Greed would force the “Americanization” of Native Americans and the loss of their lands. 4)Americans settled in Texas because Mexico was selling large plots of land for a cheap price.
