5 Workforce Planning Development Menu 4 levels – introduction, accredited, commissioners' and strategic Since inception number of programmes grown Relaunched in Nov 2009 to reflect changing market and now includes range of accredited programmes Most courses free of charge, but do offer bespoke programmes

6 General information All programmes use the following definition of Workforce Planning: Designing the future workforce, not just understanding but influencing by ensuring that workforce considerations combine with service and financial planning Developing the future workforce. Includes education commissioning, staff development, plus the recruitment and retention processes Delivering the future workforce. Management actions to ensure plans are delivered, processes are effective, clinicians are engaged and best practice is shared.

7 General information All programmes use Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning: Step 1 – Defining the Plan Step 2 – Visioning the future/mapping service change Step 3 – Defining required workforce Step 4 – understanding workforce availability Step 5 – Developing an action plan Step 6 – Implement,monitor and refresh
