KEKB : the highest luminosity in the world 3.5 GeV e +  8.0 GeV e - e + e -   (4S) e + e -   (4S) with  = 0.425 22 mrad crossing angle 22 mrad crossing angle Located in Tsukuba, Japan L peak = (1.58  10 34 )/cm 2 /sec  > 1M BB pairs/day integrated L = 467 /fb _ Belle detector

R&Ds in KU - MC production Network: Router: Layer 2/3 supports My lab-KOREN–TEIN2-CERN CPU: 10 P4 + 10 Woodcrest UPS for 10 minutes O(10)x2 clients via PXE in KU O(1) TB raids MC production in Belle done on remote sites Diskless clusters (PXE boot) assembled by us (\700,000/box) PostgreSQL server

R&Ds in KU - MC production Comments from KEK >500M from remote institutes (twice more than KEK) (e.g.) Korea with only 10 PCs Vienna with 14 PCs, Lausanne with 15 PCs Shown at Nov. General Collaboration Meeting in KEK

Super B factory – in preparation It is a proposed upgrade for higher luminosity B production ( L ~ 8x10 35 cm -1 s -1 ) Experimental environment Trigger rate : > 10 kHz Data size : ~ 300 kB/event Readout : ~ 50 k channels Not far from LHC environment !!!  Fully pipelined readout is required

Super B factory – Trigger Upgrade Triggers/readout become computing for next generation experiments… ADC/TDC CPU PMC Generic PMC COPPER : 9U VME for pipelined readout Radisys-6315 : Intel PIII CPU 800 MHz w/ PMC Running linux OS Event formatting Data sparcification  We need ~ O(1000) ! KU did: Writing device driver for trigger PMC Writing unpacker for TDC Dynamic IP allocation (via vme_addr)

Belle Grid Deployment by KEK Belle did not participate grid community from the beginningBelle did not participate grid community from the beginning But we joined since last two yearsBut we joined since last two years Gridification of Belle lib. was done and under serious testsGridification of Belle lib. was done and under serious tests LCG/EGEELCG/EGEE - Working with the computing center we created CA and have applied for Belle VO - Working with the computing center we created CA and have applied for Belle VO - We have installed LCG 2.7 at KEK and Nagoya is co- operating. - We have installed LCG 2.7 at KEK and Nagoya is co- operating.

Status of Belle Grid Deployment Goal: Establish “Belle VO” on the World LCG Infrastructure Goal: Establish “Belle VO” on the World LCG Infrastructure –Utilize data on remote sites (No need to put back processed MC) –Build framework to produce skims for new modes –Connect with current KEK B system to open the “data” to remote users securely What we’ve done What we’ve done –Install Belle library and data base in the Grid:gLite 3.0 2 KEK sites + AGSC(Taiwan) 2 KEK sites + AGSC(Taiwan) –Process gsim sample –Compile and test User_ana -> Now we can do everything about basf through grid job at test level To do and discuss To do and discuss –Stabilize for heavy use –Participate in MC production –Handle raw data: Collect new skim proposal? –How to connect to current KEK B system to open for remote users UI LCG-nodes CE SE NFS WNs LCG-nodes CE SE NFS WNs KEK ASGC/NCU @TW BSF Library 62 CPU 2TB Now on test Melbourne U. 9 What I would like to ask KISTI? A server for running PostgreSQL (root privilege) A server for Belle library holder (root privilege) O(100) computing (PXE bootable) clients Storage : O(10) TB For MC production Grid on Belle Human resources – someone knowledgeable on LCG and middle ware O(100) computing boxes??

Initial Discussion w/ KEK to eunil@hep.korea.ac.kr cc nkzw@post.kek.jp date Feb 22, 2007 11:09 AM subject Re: Belle Grid question Hi Eunil san, According to Nakazawa-san, who is now mainly working on Belle Grid, he can take care of the technical things such as installation of Belle library or submitting the jobs. But, I think we have to ask you to do some communication with KEK experts (and maybe with KISTI people), especially on organization (or maybe I can say politics) issue. For example, to participate in Belle Grid, KISTI must be included in Belle VO (virtual organization). So, you might need to make an application to KEK computer center. Of course, Nakazawa-san and I can help you, but since we are (or at least I am) not experts on Grid, we might not be so quick.

What I would like to ask KISTI? Connection to KU, down to Physics Department, (Room 425) This might be OK with KOREN only? Kreonet(2) to KU

Will this be possible??? What I would like to ask KISTI?
