3 I The Resurrection 216 0.) Introduction One of the earliest continuous traditions of the early Church was that of “the empty tomb.” - Found in all the gospels. Found in the very earliest preaching of the apostles – within a few years of Jesus’ death!

4 - The simple fact of the empty tomb doesn’t ‘prove’ that Jesus rose from the dead, but provided a physical focus for the first Christians’ belief in the resurrection, and became a place of devotion and pilgrimage
