2015 - 2016 WELCOME TO PUBLISHER’S CLUB

 What you get out this club is what you put into it!  If you…  Write  Read (any reading, even homework)  Try your best  Stay focused on reaching your goal THEN YOU DO AMAZING THINGS!!!!!  Otherwise, you will learn more about creative writing and how to fine tune your skills as a writer.  Help with your writing, either from peers or Claire WHAT YOU GET OUT OF THIS

 You are responsible for your own goals and your own work!  It is advised that you make a goal every meeting for the upcoming week, but I will not keep track of them!  Instead of tracking goals, I track your progress GOALS

 Page Check Ins  Daily Lesson  October – Planning  November – Character Development  December/January – Writer’s Craft  February – Setting  March – Tension and Pacing  April – Editing/Revising  May - Critiquing  Checking Notes  During the lesson, I expect you take notes. I don’t require any specific format or any specific length – Take notes that work best for you. When the lesson is over I will stamp them, just as a way of making sure you were paying attention.  Free Writing Time  Sharing (Sometimes) THE DAILY ROUTINE

 Every meeting show up ready and prepared to learn. This means bring…  Pencil or Pen  Paper for notes or a notebook where you keep all your notes  Your latest masterpiece  DO NOT bring your cell phone as a writing tool! Notes will be written on PAPER (I know that may seem old fashioned, but your hand will not die). If you so choose, and your parents will let you, you can bring in a laptop if that is where you keep your writing, but you will be doing so AT YOUR OWN RISK.  WRITING, WRITING, WRITING  I understand a busy schedule and homework, but if you truly love writing you will be able to find time for it - even if it’s only 10 minutes a night. EXPECTATIONS

 A quiet working environment  Distraction free – This means no cell phones too. You will live being unplugged for one hour of the day!  If you bring a laptop, no internet, no changing font, and no adding or playing with pictures while you are here!  Everyone is working  Respect is critical  THINK about what you say (True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, and Kind)  This is not a place to do your homework MEETING NORMS

Remember, I am here to help you! ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS, COMPLAINTS, OR CONCERNS YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO ADDRESS?
