2 Learning Outcomes Specify Requirements Design a solution Create and edit multimedia elements Optimise multimedia elements for use in the target environment Author a multimedia product Test and Review Create a User Guide.

3 Introduction This unit covers the production of a digital showcase. It will cover a subject of your choice within the set scenario. Seven Assessment objectives need completing.

4 Scenario St Johns needs content to educate Lower School students on a range of pastoral activities. Educating students on what needs learnt outside of school.

5 Today's Task Using smart shapes you will need to create a rough outline of your pages What's going to go on each page and why How you can navigate to them and from them.

6 Tomorrows Task Tuesdays detainees are announced. Ao1 proposal discussed and homework set.

7 AO1 : Specify Project Requirements Intended Audience Purpose of the product Main topics and key features Scenarios Success Criteria

8 AO1 : Intended Audience Straight forward – Set out by the focus of your brief Each design decision is made with this in focus Age, Gender, Location, Religion, Social Class, Income Bracket, Education Level.

9 AO1 : Purpose of the Project Every product is created for a purpose To Inform To Entertain To Start Selling To Increase Sales To Publicise

10 AO1 : Main Topics and Key Features Essentially – What's going to go in it Elements must ensure that its suitability to the purpose remains. Key features focus on moving across the main message.

11 Scenario and Usage Constraints Ask yourself two questions Where will this project be used – Class Time, Homework, Take Home etc What the implications are for its usage – Machine Spec, Delivery Method (DVD, CD, Download)

12 Success Criteria “How do we know if this has worked” This isn’t looking at the marking grid, its referring to what you want the product itself to achieve. Can the intended audience follow instructions Can the intended audience complete the quiz Do the intended audience find the content suitable etc etc

13 Merit Candidates will clearly describe the purpose and intended users of the product. They will describe in detail at least one scenario in which it will be used. They will provide a detailed description of the main topics and key features of their product They will explain how the audience and purpose has affected their choice of content and key features They will provided a clear set of criteria to measure the effectiveness of their final product.

14 Distinction Candidates will describe thoroughly and in detail the purpose of the multimedia product and its intended users. Describe fully at least one scenario in which it will be used. Identify all usage constraints that may need to be taken into account at the design stage. Provide a comprehensive description of the main topics and key features and are consistent with purpose They will justify the choice of content and key features in relation to the audience and purpose. They will provide a comprehensive and realistic set of criteria measure effectiveness of their final product.
