Thursday Folders- Another school-wide effort to communicate with parents. They are blue folders that contain PTA information, important school notes, and community notes. Again, clean it out and return to school on Friday!

Ways to help your child at home The best advice is to be supportive, encouraging, and interested in your child’s learning. Provide an area for writing/reading. Read, read, read!- To/With/By Monthly homework calendars are optional.

Grading Students will get a report card each nine weeks. Our first conference will be sometime in late October and early November. Kindergarten students will take the TPRI and the AMI three times during the year. Students will be given the CoGat at the beginning of December. Kindergarten students do not receive progress reports.

Teacher Contact Email or notes sent in the Green Folder are the best ways to contact me during the day. Please feel free to call or email anytime. E-mail may not be checked until the end of the day. We have an open-door policy! Parent/teacher communication is KEY!

Visitor Security System Boon will have a receptionist to greet parents and visitors as they enter the building. Visitors will be asked to show photo identification at the reception desk (driver license). The ID will be scanned into the computer and a visitors badge will be issued if there is no alert indicated on the data base. Although the visitor will need to check-in with the receptionist each visit and receive a badge, he/she will only need to present the photo ID on the first visit.

Discipline Plan Patriot Pride Incentives: compliment chain, marble jars on tables and individual incentives Natural consequences Lots of praise! Please look in the Green Folder daily for behavior notes.

Transportation Please send a note with your child if they are going home any way that is different from their normal routine. Without a note stating changes, we must send the child home the normal way. Please make sure this note is written on a separate piece of paper. Please do not e-mail me this information because I may have a sub or a may not check my e-mail until the end of the day.

Power Outage If Boon is experiencing a power/electricity outage at 6 a.m., we will have a delayed opening of 10 a.m. If power has not been restored by 9:30, we will remain closed the remainder of the day. Parents will be notified by School Reach phone and Fast Track emails will be sent to all subscribers. Signs will be posted in front of our school in case homes are without electricity as well.

Snacks You may send a snack with your child each day. Please remember to ONLY send items that are healthy and peanut free. We have a water fountain in the classroom so a water bottle is optional. Please do not send in a juice box. Thank you so much for your cooperation! Please do not send food items to celebrate birthdays. You may send goodie bags and your child can pass them out at a designated time during the day.

Thank you so much for coming and I look forward to working with you this year! “Kindergarten is a journey—not a race.”
