6 Agentur MAKZ Open Days 2005: European Territorial Cooperation in a Transnational Perspective Folie 6 European Route of Brick Gothic Fostering cultural tourism, heritage protection and regional development by a transnational tourism route Objectives:  Setting up a stable alliance of brick gothic heritage locations as basis for a common cultural identity of the Baltic Sea Region  Promoting tourism and regional economic development by transnational tourism route  Combining sustainable preservation, use and activation of built heritage with its marketing and promotion for tourism  Implementing an integrated approach  Creating awareness for brick gothic heritage

10 Agentur MAKZ Open Days 2005: European Territorial Cooperation in a Transnational Perspective Folie 10 Establishment of an Identity and Quality Axis from the Baltic to the Aegean Sea  Starting Point: Reanimation of a well recognized tourism corridor from Eastern Germany to Bulgaria dating from before 1990  Budget: 1,4 Million Euro; Duration: 11/2003 – 12/2006  Main concerns: oIdentify potentials for distinct regional identity oElaborate development concepts for making use of and marketing typical and unique cultural features; oRaising the internal and external awareness for the attractiveness of the regions and the tourism axis oQuality management in tourist services for introducing international quality standards  Planned result: an attractive tourism axis with high quality offers
