Welcome to LBAP conference session

Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull Local Biodiversity Action Partnership Biodiversity targets Globally and nationally, fell short of reaching 2010 target to reduce the rate of biodiversity loss UN Convention on Biological Diversity held at Nagoya, Japan, Autumn 2010 agreed new Aichi targets In 2011, the UK National Ecosystem Assessment examined economic and social value of biodiversity

Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull Local Biodiversity Action Partnership Aichi Targets 20 targets set – 2 examples: Target 5 – Habitat loss: By 2020, the rate of loss of all natural habitats is at least halved Target 11 – Protected areas: By 2020, at least 17 % of terrestrial and inland water, are conserved and effectively managed, and integrated into the wider landscape

Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull Local Biodiversity Action Partnership LBAP Work  LBAP – original development in 2001  All Action Plans written by 2005  60 partner organisations involved  By 2010, many targets achieved and plans needed updating  2012 – 14: Revision of 41 plans achieved by lead partners and Ruth Moffatt

Process Priority habitats reviewed Removed achieved actions Aimed to get actions with targets, specific and measurable Identified key needs and opportunities with lead partners Used targets developed for Regional Spatial Strategy from detailed report Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull Local Biodiversity Action Partnership
