6 Designing a guest room (from Michael Fior) Relaxation Zone – Lounge chairs, accent/reading light, ability to view television, occasional table(s) Work Zone – Lounge chairs(s) at an appropriate height for desk work may eliminate the need for a desk chair. Consider a roll-out computer stand under the desk – better height for PC work, more workspace when needed. Requires task lighting, power, phone & internet outlets Sleeping Zone – Most often double- double or queen-sized. Queen-queen and king are more luxurious options. Note in this example the desk lamp does dual duty as a bedside lamp. Dressing Zone - Clothing storage – hanging and drawers. Storage for emptied luggage. Possible full-length mirror, or mirrored closet doors. Potentially secured storage for valuables. Consider the newer, combined storage concept for a more residential look Bathing Zone – designs should increase lighting quality; enlarge the countertop and mirror. Compartmentalize the toilet and/or tub/shower` Connecting Door – only if this unit can form part of a suite Entry – may be shared with other rooms, and may be recessed or flush
