Lenten Worship Wednesdays March 12 th – April 9 th 5:30 p.m. Lenten Meal 6:45 p.m.Worship “Final Words from the Cross”

INTRODUCTION In today's gospel Jesus reveals his power over death by raising Lazarus from the dead. The prophet Ezekiel prophesies God breathing new life into dry bones. To those in exile or living in the shadows of death, these stories proclaim God's promise of resurrection. In baptism we die with Christ that we might also be raised with him to new life. At the Easter Vigil we will welcome new sisters and brothers at the baptismal font, as we renew our baptismal promises.

Holy Communion is open to all who are baptized, confess Jesus as Lord, and believe that Jesus is present in the Bread and Wine. If you desire gluten-free wafers, let the pastor know at the time of distribution. Glasses of white grape juice are available in each tray for those who do not wish to receive wine.

EXPRESSION OF FAITH

DEDICATION OF LWR QUILTS, KITS AND LAYETTES L: Let us pray. O Lord our God, maker of all things, you have blessed us with so many gifts—a good eye for color, the ability to make fine stitches, the skills to develop ever-new and exciting patterns. Now we offer the fruits of our labors, the quilts and kits we have made, to you.

C:We dedicate these quilts and kits to your service, trusting that your love will go wherever each quilt or kit is sent, making it more than just a piece of material, a collection of items—making each piece we have created an expression of love.

L:There is no way for us to imagine the power and effect an act of love can have on a person’s life— how you can use something as small as a quilt, a layette, a school kit to radiate your love from us to the world. C:May these be used in your service and become blessings for all those who receive them.

L: Lord, we know that all we possess comes from your loving hand. Give us grace to honor you with all of our being: draw our hearts to you, guide our minds, fill our imaginations, control our wills, so that we may be wholly yours. C:Use us as you will, always to your glory and the welfare of your people. Amen.

APOSTLE’S CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE CHURCH P: Lord in you Mercy. C: Hear our prayers. SHARING THE PEACE P:The peace of Christ be with you always. C:And also with you.

OFFERING

EXPRESSION OF FAITH

OFFERTORY PRAYER P: God our provider, you have not fed us with bread alone, but with words of grace and life. C:Bless us and these your gifts, which we receive from your bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS All may make the sign of the cross, the sign marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins. P:Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, the fountain of living water, the rock who gave us birth, our light and our salvation. C:Amen. P: Come, let us acknowledge our sin and seek God's face, that we may live. Silence is kept for reflection. You are invited to kneel, sit, or stand as you wish.

P: Holy God, C:we confess that we have turned away from you and from our neighbors, and in toward ourselves. We have sought security in possessions and the place of power in relationships. We have trusted ourselves most of all. Turn us back to you, O God. In your mercy, forgive our sinfulness and cleanse us from guilt and shame. Guide us on the path of freedom that is your gift to us in Christ our Lord. Amen.

P: Hear for yourselves: There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. In the waters of baptism grace abounds for you and for all. God turns to you in love and puts away every sin, every wrong turn, for the sake of + Jesus, the one God sent to save the world. C:Amen.
