11 © Kristine Asch, BGR Bundesanstalt fürFederal Institute for Geowissenschaften Geosciences und Rohstoffe and Natural Resources Interoperable geology data The ability of two or more systems to exchange information and use the information that has been exchanged (Institute of Electrical and Electronical Engineers, IEEE: Standard Computer Dictionary: A compilation of IEEE Standard Computer Glossaries, New York, NY: 1990 interoperable data are e.g. comparable but not similar, definitions, data models and descriptions may differ (and mostly will be) no geometric Abgleich (adaptation, weeding ofmismatches?) can remain in their original databases but will be connected with each other Example (Tim Duffy ocean floor) time/effort translation to WMS and/or GeosciML ????

Implementation specifications, i.e. Guidelines how to do it scientific review system management, project leader, working groups … funding

Common … and agreed topography Is there a 1 : 5 M global spatial topographic dataset ? agree to use a conceptual data model for data exchange, approved by the internatiional Geocommunity (IUGS) (as ML = GeoSciML) language (English, Chinese, French, German?) Implementation specifications, i.e. guidelines how to do it Funding a technical tool to make the data interoperable
