Welcome Failte mor isteach There are almost 500 children at our school. The youngest are 4 years old in the nursery and we are the oldest at 11 years old.

1 Welcome Failte mor isteach There are almost 500 children at our school. The youngest are 4 years old in the nursery and we are the oldest at 11 years old.

2 Our school entrance The main entrance Our school was built in 1972 Mr Heaney was one of the first teachers to work here.

3 Our office Mrs Harkin and Mrs Quigley are our secretaries. They help us every day. They both work very hard.

4 Our canteen Our canteen supervisor is Ann She helps us at lunch time every day. We share our canteen with an Irish speaking school.

5 Our school uniform Our uniform is red and yellow. It is a lovely uniform. Mr O’ Kane designed the badge. It is an ancient Irish symbol. It represents THE CIRCLE OF LIFE (Birth-Life-Death)

6 Our church Our church is called. Our Lady of Lourdes. It is prism shaped. We go to mass here during the week sometimes. Our priests are Father Cargan and Fr Bradley They are GREAT!

7 A view from our school You can see Grainan Fort from our school. It is an ancient fort. It is over 2,000 years old Cúchulainn and the Red Branch Knights are said to be buried here. It is said that they will return one day when Ireland is in danger.

8 Our P.E. Hall This is our P.E. hall. We have our assemblies here as well.

9 Our Computer Room This is our computer room. We do some of our computer work here. There are 24 computers in the room.

10 Our City This is a picture of our city. You can see the Donegal mountains in the distance. This is where our school is. The river is called the River Foyle. There are three bridges in our city. This one is called Craigavon bridge. There are lots of hills in our city.

11 Derry City Walls We have cannon on our walls. They are not used anymore. You can see them if you come here.

12 Ferryquay Gate This is one of the gates in our city walls. They are the only complete city walls in Europe. You can walk around the walls. They are just over 1 mile long.

13 St Columb’s Cathedral This is where the people who died in the siege of 1689 are buried. There are more than 5,000 people buried here. After the siege many people left to settle in America. Davy Crockett’s grandparents left from here to go to America.

14 Amelia Earhart Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. She landed in Ireland. The place where she landed is very close to our school. This picture was taken when she landed in a field at Ballyarnett near Derry.
