3.   More than 2000 years ago, many travelers wrote about incredible sights they had seen on their journeys.  Over time, these came to be known as the “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World”. Unfortunately, most of the ancient wonders no longer exist. What are they?

4.   In Egypt. Built about 2600 B.C.E.  They are the only ancient wonder still standing today. Pyramids of Giza

5.   In Iraq. Built: Unknown Hanging Gardens of Babylon

6.   In Turkey. Built in the 6 th century B.C.E. The tower was built to honor Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Temple of Artemis

7.   In Greece. Built in the 5 th century B.C.E. The statue was built to honor the king of all the Greek gods. Statue of Zeus

8.   In Turkey. Built in the 4 th century B.C.E. for King Mausolus. Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

9.   Built in 4 th century B.C.E. The 110 foot statue honored Greek sun god, Helios. Colossus of Rhodes

10.   In Egypt. Built in 3 rd century B.C.E. The world’s first lighthouse used mirrors to reflect sunlight for miles out to sea. Lighthouse of Alexandria
