3 Getting Started – Society Goals Goal 1: ASSE will be recognized as the thought leader of the profession by initiating new ideas, innovations, and solutions to guide SH&E professionals. Goal 2: ASSE will define the standards of professional competency, and be the authoritative resource for SH&E professionals seeking training, education, and development

7 Chapter By-Laws Geography Who makes up the executive committee Objectives assigned to chapter officer Elected Officers (at minimum) – President – President-elect – Secretary – Treasurer

8 Chapter By-Laws Responsibilities of the officers Nomination and election of officers Quorums Meetings – At least 6 – 4 technical Amendments

9 Society By-Laws - Representation Current ASSE Bylaws (Article IV, Section 7) state that "Regions, areas, chapters, sections and other units of the Society shall not issue resolutions or statements and not legally bind, or take official action on matters of national or international significance without approval of the Board of Directors."
