In 1989, world leaders decided that children needed special rights just for them because people under 18 years were more vulnerable than adults. They needed special protection. The United Nations came up with the convention on the rights of the child.

Child Trafficking Child trafficking can either be forced labour (work) or sexual exploitation (using children as prostitutes) Jesus said ‘blessed are the children, the kingdom of God is theirs’ Jesus is often pictured with Children and he always spoke about their innocence. Christians believe children should always be protected. Child soldiers Children, often as young as five, being forced to fight in wars. Most Christians believe that war is wrong as it goes against Jesus’ teachings that we should ‘love our enemies’ RightsSomething which everyone is expected to have because they are human. Everyone is entitled to human rights. God said we were all ‘created equally’ therefore we should all be given equal rights. Jesus did not discriminate and helped everyone no matter what they had done.
