professional-development-building-your-plan/plan The IDP has three purposes: (1) identify an individual’s professional goals and objectives, (2) assess the individual’s skill set relative to their career goals, and (3) develop a plan to acquire the skills and competencies needed to achieve short and long-term career objectives. The Graduate School strongly encourages students to use the IDP to communicate with mentors, as the IDP can be extremely useful in clarifying roles and expectations of students and mentors.
