2. Revelation 7: God’s People Are Sealed
This vision is modeled after Ezekiel 9.
Verse 1 the judgment of God is not accidental
four angels – cf. Eze. 1
four winds – the activity of God as drying earth for Noah, opening Red Sea, cf. Isa. 57:13; Jer. 18:17; 49:36
Compare Psa. 104:4; Heb. 1:7; Psa. 18:10; John 3:7, 8
Verse 2 is good news cf. Psa 84:11; Mal. 4:2
Verse 3 sealed cf. 2 Tim. 2:19; 3:12; 22:4; 14:1-5

Verses ,000 = 12 x 12 x 10 x 10 x 10 = all of God’s people (cf. Amos 4:9)
Not literal Israel (v. 3, Dan excluded, Joseph instead of Ephraim, 14:1-5 virgins) but the church (cf. Gal. 3:26-28; 6:15; 3:7; Rom. 9:6; 2:28-29; Phi. 3:3).

Verses 9-12 the great multitude is the 144,000 in victory on the other side of persecution and death (cf. v. 14).
white robes – purified
The priest lead people with palm branches singing Hallelujahs as at the feast of tabernacles giving thanks for the harvest and rejoicing (cf. Lev 23:40).

5. Revelation 7: God’s People Are Sealed
Verses not beaten but victorious
washed – Acts 22:16; 1 John 1:7
night and day - total devotion cf. Luke 2:37
temple - speaks of their priesthood
