3  Frederick Crocker was the commander for the Union in both battles.  J.S. Irvine was the commander for the Confederacy.

6  This battle lasted from Sept. 24 th to Sept. 25 th.

7  Irvine ordered his artillery spiked and then retreated during the night. The town of Sabine surrendered.

8  This battle strengthened the Union Navel blockade.
