1 The European Academy of Sciences (EAS) is an international Association with scientific aim. This Association is a non profit non-governmental independent organization with for main objectives the promotion of scientific European research. EAS is registered and operates under rules and regulations of the Kingdom of Belgium. EAS was founded on April 28, 2003. Statutes were approved by Royal Decree of the King of Belgium of December 17, 2003. EAS is a very young Association which fully started its activities in 2004. The registered office is established in Belgium, in the legal district of Liège. President: Professor Hélène de Rode Around 650 members Website: http://www.eurasc.org

6 The Academy disseminates knowledge and technologies via publications, international meetings and workshops, teleconferences, etc… The Academy rewards excellence in science and technology by electing to its Fellowship and Honorary Membership and by awarding the Academy’s Blaise Pascal medals the brightest scientists who perform outstanding research. 9 The Presidium and the Executive Committee include the President and the Vice-President/Treasurer governing and managing bodies develop the policy of the Academy The Academic Council Composition : - the Heads of Divisions + 1 member of the Executive Committee Role : - proposes activities for each of the 7 Divisions - develops the objectives of the Academy The Scientific Committee acts on its own initiative or on Executive Committee’s request advises the Executive Committee on Scientific matters evaluates the scientific relevance of projects proposes to the Executive Committee scientific activities identifies research priorities helps in the organization of international research networks The Editorial Board advises on editorial activities helps in the organization of activities oversees the Annals and other Academy publications Role of the Committees
