Sunphotometer (AERONET/PHOTON) 8 channels: 340, 380, 440, 500, 670, 870, 936 & 1020 nm Pyranometer IR radiometer (day/night): 9.5 – 11.5 µm, 2° FOV Optical Depth Sensor (day/moon) Web Cam: monitoring clear or cloudy sky, cloud track wind

4 4 OBJECTIVES Science Objectives –ABL dynamics, Aerosols life cycle and cloud interaction, cirrus life cycle, aerosols & clouds Radiative properties, … –AMMA in 2006 (African Monsoon) –Calipso & A-Train Validation Requirements –All sky monitoring capability (but no precipitation …) –Turn key operation, Hands-off operation –Real time monitoring (on going) –Easy caring and low cost operation –Easy to transport for field experiments –High time resolution: 10 sec averaging (or 200 shots) about 50 m
