 Log in- Student ID #@havs  Password- havs Example: 12345@havs havs  You should be using Study Island on a daily basis. You will have assignments, or pathways, that you must complete on a monthly basis.  Let’s learn more…

 You will get a weekly newsletter that includes not just the pacing guide, but also a list of class connect sessions, and Study Island Pathways. Pathways should be completed in the month they are assigned. Pathways can be accessed in two different ways.

 Teachers will teach large group and small group sessions based around student progress in Study Island  Homeroom teachers will monitor your progress as you work to complete your topics from week to week.  Recordings of all the lessons are available on our websites!  Teachers will also monitor your Study Island pathways so that your scores can be included in your overall grade for the school year.

 You can choose whether you want to answer in practice mode or game mode. Whichever mode you choose, you must answer AT LEAST TEN questions for the pathway to be completed.

Questions answered: Your percent White Ribbon Blue Ribbon

 You can track your own scores and progress in Study Island, but for your convenience you will also receive monthly Study Island updates. These updates will show you which pathways you still need to work on completing, and which pathways you can continue to improve on to master.

 If you start out with a very low score, Study Island will add a “Building Block Topic.” This is a topic a grade level lower than the grade level topic you were originally working on. You have to pass the Building Block topic (and earn a white ribbon) in order to move back up to the original topic.

 You are required to complete ALL pathways for both ELA and Math for the 8 th grade.  A complete pathway is defined as ten questions answered for each pathway.  We will also work on mastering the pathways. Mastery is defined at receiving a score of 70% or higher on a complete pathway.  Teachers will also be assigning monthly custom assignments to help to better individualize each student’s instruction. Students will be required to complete all custom assessments.

Often time, we will have class connect sessions that push students out to Study Island assignments. Attending class connect sessions will help students to stay on track with Study Island!

 Each month, we will have a prize awarded to students who have completed their pathways. We will also have end of semester celebrations for students who have mastered the pathways! Go start earning those blue ribbons!!!

Can I work ahead in Study Island?  Yes! Feel free to complete Pathway assignments even before the large group Monday sessions are offered. Is Study Island part of my grade?  Yes! Study Island pathway completion and blue ribbons make up 20% of your overall grade. An additional 10% of your grade will come from completing Study Island Constructed Responses and Interim Assessments Do the topics match up to my OLS course?  The topics are designed to match to grade level standards (not K12 courses) to ensure you know your grade level standards and to help prepare you for success on ISTEP!
