2 Martin – “Everything would be OK if we didn’t have grades, tests and reports all the time, if there was less pressure.” Me – “In a way yes but… there is always one NO. Without tests, grades and other things like this we cant remember everything. Martin age 7

3 Janet – “Most lessons are boring
Janet – “Most lessons are boring. Sometimes I just have to doodle on my desk or write letters. Otherwise Id fall asleep.” Janet age 9 Me – “Maybe you need to sleep more. Most of lessons are interesting if you understand them.”

4 Gary – “It’s always the teacher who decides what we are going to do
Gary – “It’s always the teacher who decides what we are going to do. What we need is more democracy.” Me – “Is this a school or what ? Teachers must teach us and we ought to listen to them. What else do you want ?” Gary age 16

5 Liz age 16 Liz – “In my opinion, homework is a waste of time !”
Me – “I don’t think so. Homework is a way to practice.” Liz age 16

6 Steve – “So far I haven’t learned much to help me in later life
Steve – “So far I haven’t learned much to help me in later life. What’s the point of doing art, music and maths, for example.” Me – “Lessons like art and music are for those, whose profession is supposed to be connected to it. Steve age 14

7 Melanie – “We can’t do without school
Melanie – “We can’t do without school. School is not a place for fun like discos”. Me – “Yes, school is a very important place where we study a lot of useful subjects, but fun like discos is a good way to relax with friends. Melanie age 8
