3 What do we mean by offender health Detainee/offender health as this related to substance misuse, mental health well-being and physical health Aims To improve the offender health in the wider sense To transmit relevant information across the CJ pathway To measure a reduction in reoffending To measure positive impacts for the NHS

5 Substance use Dedicated Substance Intervention Programme All detainees in Police custody are now screened for any substance /offending links. If known detainees can be –Assessed by substance recovery workers –Tested if known for Class A drug use –Considered for Restrictions on Bail (ROB)/Conditional Bail (COB) applications Information is communicate to court via an Information for Court form re suitability for ASAR, ATR or DRR

6 Liaison and Diversion An established Criminal Justice Mental Health Team Dual Diagnosis Pilot Remand Bed Pilot

7 Personality Disorder Services Model Link Worker based in Probation Supported by Psychologist Probation Performance identify most cases Offender Managers screen Link worker supports screen and records Offender Manager attends case consultation if there are concerns If required case is referred for case formulation with Psychiatrist

8 Health Worker Pilot - Outcomes 1.Reduction in –offending/severity of offending – representing to custody, –representing to A&E, 2. Numbers of –Referrals and where to –Learning difficulties/mental health/Personality Disorder. Autism –A medical need –With GP and those registered 3. Demand and nature for safe guarding/social care links 4. Identification of pathways and any issues that need to be resolved 5. IT/assessment developments required

9 July to Sept findings 342 assessments 80% white British and 20% spread of all ethnicity, 48 females and 294 males. IT not resovled and too many for one staff member therefore still relying on Police referral Youths a priority but access problematic Supports nurse prescribing Enables FPs to concentrate on SARC referrals and forensic assessments
