Law abiding citizen Character types Man/Father (hero/anti-hero) The father is represented as a loving husband as he works enthusiastically next to his daughter. Girl/Daughter The daughter is seen to be about 6-7 years old, she is braiding a necklace for her mother whilst sitting in her fathers office.

Women/Mother Only see her briefly scream and get thrown onto the wall before she’s killed. Robber (Antagonist) A stocky man with tattoo’s hits the father in the head with a baseball bat, ties him to the floor and kills his family.

Camerawork Close up The scene begins with close ups on a girls hands whilst she creates a necklace for her mother, this is followed by a close up of her fathers hands working on soldering a computer chip. Mid shot The use of the mid shot creates a sense that the conversation is directed towards the audience. This is the beginning of the first equilibrium.

Over the shoulder shot Shows the audience that the characters are speaking to each other. High angle shot The camera looks down upon the young girl just as the her father goes to answer the door (shows vulnerability). Also a high angle shot when the robbers attack the father by kicking him on the ground (hopeless). The disruption of the equilibrium is when the father opens the door to find the intruder.

Low angle shot This is used when the antagonist/robber pins the father to the floor with a knife and declares ‘You can’t fight fate’. Establishing shot Used just before the movie begins, as it shows the the audience where the movie takes place. This is where the new equilibrium begins.

Sound Diegetic noises Radio in the background at the beginning Door knocking Non-diegetic noises Music that the characters cannot hear is played when the father is hit on the head with a baseball bat from the robber. During the conflict scene there is background music, score?

En Scene The setting is a typical family house in America during dinner time. The main props that were significant in this scene include, the beads that the girl was using to make a necklace for her mother (innocence) and the baseball bat that the robbers used to smack the man in the head with. Title The title used is written in serif fonts with rough edges, this could represent the ‘father’ character as becoming dangerous, yet professional when plotting his revenge on the robber for destroying his life.
