7. A work in the public domain CAN be copied. Public domain works include those of the U.S. Government and works for which the copyright has expired. There are other public domain time restrictions you will learn about later.

10. Fair Use Fair use allows for limited copying of a published work. You do not have to get the creators permission in some cases. Some examples are quotations of excerpts in a review or critique, or copying of a small part of a work by a teacher or student to illustrate a lesson.
