SIPREC draft-ietf-siprec-req-05 Requirements for Media Recording using SIP Draft authors: K. Rehor, A. Hutton, L. Portman, R. Jain, H. Lum IETF 79.1 Interim Meeting Ken Rehor, Leon Portman on behalf of the team 15 Dec 2010

Agenda draft-ietf-siprec-req-05 – Items fixed since last meeting (“79”) and discussion on mailing list Today: Open Issues and Public Comments – Continued and new items Next Steps – Items to be resolved – Publication schedule 2

Open Items 3 TicketSummaryDisposition 59Clarification of scope/privacyRecommend adoption of suggested changes (Cooper & Elwell) 60Wording concerning policy on storage and use of a recording Recommend adoption of suggested changes (Cooper)

Issue #59: Clarification of scope/privacy 1. In section 2, paragraph beginning "Respecting the privacy rights and wishes of users...", the last sentence says: "In addition, lawful intercept is outside the scope of this document." I propose replacing this sentence with: "Use cases where users participating in a call are not informed that the call is or might be recorded are outside the scope of this document. In particular, lawful intercept is outside the scope of this document." http://trac.tools.ietf.org/wg/siprec/trac/ticket/59 4

Issue #59: Clarification of scope/privacy 2. The whole of this same paragraph (beginning "Respecting the privacy rights and wishes of users..."), including the modification proposed above, should be repeated at the start of section 6 (Privacy Considerations). Originally this paragraph and the paragraphs that currently appear in section 6 were proposed for inclusion in section 6. Whilst it is good to have the first paragraph up front in section 2, if it is not repeated in section 6 the rest of section 6 loses its context. http://trac.tools.ietf.org/wg/siprec/trac/ticket/59 5

Clarification of scope/privacy Is there a difference between “users” and “participants”? –  no Declare scoping in intro of req and arch docs In addition to REQ-024, add requirement to indicate the purpose of the recording – Suggestion: "The mechanism MUST provide a means of indicating to the participants involved in a CS the purpose for which their session is being recorded." User/participant control of recording http://trac.tools.ietf.org/wg/siprec/trac/ticket/59 http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/siprec/current/msg01044.html 6 Alissa Cooper

Issue #60: Clarification of scope/privacy Alissa Cooper proposed the following rewording for the last paragragh of section 6: "This document does not specify any requirements for a user engaged in a CS to be able to dictate policy for what happens to a recording, or for such information to be conveyed from an SRC to an SRS. It is assumed that the SRS has access to policy applicable to its environment and can ensure that recordings are stored and used in accordance with that policy." http://trac.tools.ietf.org/wg/siprec/trac/ticket/60 http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/siprec/current/msg01196.html 7
