3 A little bit of history The oldest Holocaust related institution in the world 1930s: Büro Willhelmstrasse and Jewish Central Information Office (JCIO) Collecting and disseminating information about, by, against the Nazis WW2: „Dr Wiener‘s Library“ Information for BBC and British Intelligence Service. Published two journals: Jewish News. Nazis at War Postwar: The Wiener Library Institute of Contemporary History Providing evidence for Nuremberg trials and Eichmann trial. Collecting Eyewitness accounts. Research. 10 The Wiener Library - One of the world's leading and most extensive archives on the Holocaust and Nazi era Unique collection of over one million items Nearly 70,000 Published and unpublished works 100,000s of press cuttings Over 2,700 Archival Collections Over 3000 Serials (ca. 130 current subscriptions) 17,000 photographs and 1000s of eyewitness testimony. In-house access to databases with full texts: Testaments to the Holocaust and Postwar Europe: Refugees, Exile and Resettlement, 1945-1950 Digital copy for the UK of the International Tracing Service (ITS) Archive: over 100 million images of documents re 17.5 million people Soon: Managing the Holocaust education website http://www.theholocaustexplained.org/
