1 Welcome to Quebec! Welcome to Quebec! Quebec is A wonderful province to visit. It has lots of fun festivals, great cultures and much more! Now let me help teach you a bit more about Quebec and it's history! By Sara Gunderson

2 Quebec is in Canada! Quebec is one of the provinces and territories of Canada. It became part of Canada on July 1, 1867. It was one of the four original provinces that were founded when Canada was first created. This is a map of Quebec

3 The Capital of Quebec! Quebec city is the provincial capital of the province Quebec. Quebec city has served as a capital for over one-hundred years. From 1867, Quebec city has been the capital of New France,which is another name for Quebec. The city is also very pretty, carnivals and attractions are often famous to be seen in Quebec city. The Cirque Du Soleil is a famous acrobatic show that sometimes comes to Quebec city. Cirque Du Soleil is french for Circus of the sun so that explains how Quebec is where it got it's name. “Cirque du soleil” The beautiful city of Quebec! 4 Industries and natural resources! Some natural resources in Quebec are lumber, maple syrup and minerals. Minerals that are often found in Quebec are copper, zinc, nickel, gold and silver. Quebec finds many minerals because it is part of the Canadian shield which has many rocks and minerals. Large hydro-electric plants are found in Quebec too. Quebec makes most of the power plants in all of Canada. Most of Quebec's plants are near James Bay. Fishing industries are also popular in Quebec. Logging industry in Quebec

5 Jobs in Quebec! In Quebec, there are many different jobs you can be part of. Some popular jobs include farming, miner, professional acrobat. A miner or farmer would be good because according to Quebec's physical characteristics there are many mining and farming industries. The Canadian shield especially provides many minerals. 6 Animals and Plant Life In Quebec, there are many forests and different habitats leading to many different species of animals and plants. Fish in Quebec may include Salmon, northern pike and many others. Quebec is also home to about 300 different bird species. Polar bears, moose, mink rabbits, otters white tailed deer and beluga whales are also found in many places in Quebec. There are many plants in Quebec too like the white lily, iris and pansies. 7 The Population of Quebec The population of Quebec is 7.5 million and it is the only province in Canada that speaks more french then english. Quebec also used to be home to many pioneer villages about 400 years ago. Quebec is also one of the oldest provinces in Canada!

8 The Climate! Quebec has variations of different weathers depending on the season. In the summer, Quebec's temperature is usually very warm, from between 20C and 5C. But in the winter, the weather can get very cold and rainy from between ranges of -10C and -25C. Winter in Quebec Summer in Quebec

9 Physical Characteristics Quebec is part of the Canadian shield. Many minerals are found there. Another characteristic is that there are also many mountains in Quebec. 10 Interesting Facts - Quebec became the very first province in Canada to adopt an official, provincial flag. -Quebec's provincial tree is the Yellow birch -Quebec's provincial bird is the Snowy owl -Quebec's motto is “Je me souviens,” French for “I remember.”
