NIC Training GOALS from IICWG II DEFINE PRODUCT STANDARDS UPDATE JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (JQR’S) REDUCE TRAINING PIPELINE FOR ICE ANALYSTS TRAINING MANAGER/DEPT TRAINING TEAMS TRAINING INSTRUCTION TRAINING PLANS
Achievements DEFINE PRODUCT STANDARDS Preliminary Work Done Work Progressing Through the CBT Design UPDATE JQR’S Analyst JQR Updated to Reflect 3 CBT Modules Ice Recognition, RADARSAT, Ice Physics
Achievements REDUCE TRAINING PIPELINE FOR ANALYST JQR Shortened CBT Incorporated Into Analyst Training TRAINING MANAGER/DEPT TRAINING TEAMS AGC Bill Rathell Replaced AGC Mike Butcher
Achievements TRAINING INSTRUCTION Issued April 2000 TRAINING PLANS Implementation is ongoing
TRAINING OUR ICE ANALYSTS AT NIC TODAY Comprehensive Job Qualification Requirements Rigorous On The Job Training With Mentor Present and Planned CBTs Replacing JQR Items Climatology Database Science Team Lectures Targeting JQR Items
CONSOLIDATE ICE ANALYST TRAINING IN CBT Document Corporate Knowledge And Analysis Process Through Computer Based Training (CBT) Collaborative project with CIS Produced by NOETIX Research Inc.
Modules Completed Ice Recognition RADARSAT Ice Physics (Under Final Review) Modules Funded Remote Sensing (AVHRR, OLS, SSMI) Climatology Geography Modules Proposed Interactive Ice Analysis Special Products CONSOLIDATE ICE ANALYST TRAINING IN CBT
Special Offer to the IICWG Members : IICWG Pricing 40%> 15 modules 33%11 to 15 modules 25%6 to 10 modules 10%1 to 5 modules DiscountGroup Purchase : Offer open until 31 January 2002 Applies to group purchase in a single order
Future Module Development Objective is to encourage IICWG to partner and leverage expertise, interests, and cash. To be eligible : i) attend review meetings and provide expert(s) to add and review content, and ii) provide materials when appropriate, and iii) provide a cash contribution. Active participants will influence the structure and content. Result is better suited to their training needs. Agency wide distribution license.
Future Module Development Future modules under consideration (CIS/NIC meeting) : Geography Ice Climatology New sensors as they come on-line. Operational ice analysis – case studies using multi-sensors) Ice forecasting (short and long range) Oceanography Special projects CBT enhancements
Ice Physics CBT Demo Questions and Comments CBT Demo During a Break - To Be Announced
* Student receives basic introduction to Ice Types, Ice formation, and visual recognition * Student receives introduction to Synthetic Aperture Radar theory and interpretation of Ice features in SAR imagery
