2 Lincolnshire and Rutland Employment and Skills Board Large Employer of Year 2012 Apprenticeships Award winning City of Lincoln Council is an Employer Apprenticeship Provider (sub contract from First College) Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) on National register Ambassador for National Apprenticeship Service

3 Lincolnshire and Rutland Employment and Skills Board Large Employer of Year 2012 Apprenticeships  City Council apprenticeship scheme operating since 1995 – when no employees under 25  Council has over 50% of all apprentices ever recruited still working for them. More than 50% of under 30s are current or former apprentices  Career progression routes and talent management in place  Senior Management and political “Buy in”  Excellent results 100% success rate so far in 11/12

4 Lincolnshire and Rutland Employment and Skills Board Large Employer of Year 2012 Apprenticeships Currently we have apprentices undertaking Business Administration, Customer Services Team Leading, Management, Craft We are also offering in partnership Level 4 Business, Level 5 Leadership and Management, Teaching Assistants, Hospitality

5 Lincolnshire and Rutland Employment and Skills Board Large Employer of Year 2012 Apprenticeships Operate with individually designed programmes – meeting the needs of employer and learner  Delivery in partnership with First College or specialised providers  Delivery in employer or centre premises with 1:1 +/or groups with mutually agreed timings, anytime start, often using e portfolio  Allocation of personally matched supervisor, mentor and assessor  Real work and value  Apprenticeships are undertaken in a placement, junior post or alongside permanent employment where job roles suitable

6 Lincolnshire and Rutland Employment and Skills Board Large Employer of Year 2012 Apprenticeships  Enrichment – volunteering, monthly forum, fundraising,  e learning  Internal placement move round and external opportunities  Planned progression routes and partnerships  Individually designed support packages and equipment for equality of access and achievement  Support for apprentices from difficult backgrounds eg offending, mental health, homeless, debts etc  Escalator effect – progression to Higher Apprenticeships
