4. EARTH DAY Earth Day has been going on for a little bit over 40 years. The idea of Earth Day started in 1967 & went on until 1970 when it actually started. Gaylord Nelson was smart to start Earth Day because it helps the earth stay clean because we clean it up.

More interesting facts EARTH DAY founder GAYLORD NELSON passed away in 2005 at the age 89, and these are some of the questions he asked himself before he passed away: What was the purpose of EARTH DAY? How did it start? These questions are still unanswered to this day. Will we ever find out the answers?

6. His idea was to persuade President Kennedy to give visibility to his issue by going on national conservation. He agreed to the idea and began his tour in 1963. Because of that, Earth Day was held April 22,1970 and goes on until this day.
