CREDS Review

Hooks- GIVE THEM SOMETHING THEY WANT “I would like to tell you about who I think would win in a fight…” “I believe that Spiderman is better because I know he is a lot stronger.” “What do you do when you see a spider?” If another animal approaches the den of a wolverine, the wolverine will attack. Wolverines are very territorial, and are one of the strongest animals of their size. It is a little-known fact that spiders don’t actually have a backbone. This may be surprising to some, but it’s no surprise when looking at Spiderman. Spiderman also seems to have no backbone. He is one of the weakest superheroes in the Marvel comics. It’s pretty obvious that Spiderman would lose in a fight if he went up against Wolverine.

Formality Spider-dude would totally kick his trash…ya feel me? Spiderman would definitely win. In a fight against Wolverine, Spiderman would definitely be the superior fighter, and would dominate.

EVIDENCE

Evidence C- In the poem, symbolism is used to help the reader understand the suffering of those with depression. R-The symbol of the car, and the stolen radio, are used to represent the speaker’s happiness he once had. E- In the 3rd stanza of “Car Radio,” he says “There is no distraction to mask what is real. I could pull the steering wheel.” D- This shows that his “distraction” is gone, and he now has to deal with reality. The mentioning of “[pulling] the steering wheel” seems to allude to suicide, which reinforces the symbol of the car as the speaker and the car radio as his mind or sanity. S- Understanding these symbols helps understand the true suffering of those with depression, and the emptiness left for them inside of their “cars,” or minds.

Avoiding “I,” “you,” & “we.” It is a little-known fact that spiders don’t actually have a backbone. This may be surprising to some, but not to me. It is a little-known fact that spiders don’t actually have a backbone. This may be surprising to some, but it’s no surprise when looking at Spiderman. I believe that Wolverine is clearly the more dominant superhero. Wolverine is clearly the more dominant superhero. Do you think that Spiderman could beat him? I don’t. There is no way that Spiderman could beat him.

Citation According to http://www.notactuallyareal%website1_butitworks right%$ustdoingthistobestupidnowsincethiscangoo nforeverandeverandeverbutitstilllookskindaneatint hebrowsereventhoughitsabigwasteoftimeandenergy andhasnorealpointbutwehadt.html, full URLs should never EVER be included in a paragraph as citation. They are hideous. In a totally-bogus poll, 35,00000 people responded to long URLs in papers. The most common response is “Wow, I totally forgot what they were talking about after the URL came in and destroyed the paragraph. I want to punch something.” This shows that you should NEVER do this in your papers. This will decrease punching and bad grades on papers.

The Rubric

SENIORS I have a pack of Oreos. Convince me that your table deserves them ( 1 or 2 per person). Present: Introduction (Hook + Transition + Thesis). 1 Explanation Paragraph (Using CREDS.) ! Try to avoid using “I,” “you,” & “we.” Hook: Bribery is often seen as a corrupting factor when used for politicians. Transition: However, in this case, it’s going to be used to earn some Oreos, which is not a corrupt motive. Thesis: This group deserves those Oreos. C- It is in each class member’s best interests to vote for this group. R- Everyone in this class will receive $25 if votes are placed correctly. E- In this wallet, there is $800. D- That could easily be split into enough money to pay out every class member. S- Obviously, this group is the right choice.

SOPHOMORES: YOU TRY IT Class Example: Lana Del Rey- “Born to Die” SENIORS- Try it with a short story!

Try it with a poem we’ve done. Thesis: In “Car Radio,” by Twenty One Pilots, Tyler Joseph uses symbolism, word choice, and meter to show the pain that those with depression suffer through. 1- Symbolism 2- Word Choice 3- Meter C- In the poem, symbolism is used to help the reader understand the suffering of those with depression.
