A core portal framework has been implemented providing the following capabilities: A Platform for integrating and presenting enterprise wide content and services. A set of basic services and content (e.g. HR Services, Personnel Data, etc.). A strong start with growing user acceptance

Enhanced Search Services: Capable of fast and highly selective content retrieval. Enterprise Content Management: A comprehensive content management system based on Documentum 4i (an industry leading content management platform). Role Based Customization: Developing a role based customization capability that supports delivery of personalized and targeted content and services to select users and groups. Foundation services are “enablers” which support the subsequent introduction of enterprise services

9 Last Updated 1/17/02 sdaly@stellcom.com 9 Transitioning to the @hp Enterprise Phase Future initiatives will develop @hp enterprise services ERP Integration: The first of many Enterprise IT Applications to be integrated and served (via a distributed systems model). Web Services Support: Provide the ability to access portal content and functionality through web services. Also, ensure the portal can access content and services from external web services. Development Kits and Plug-ins: Provide tools to assist in rapidly integrating new content, services and applications (e.g. reporting). Enterprise Mobility Platform: Provide a platform that can present portal content and services to a diverse set of mobile devices. This would also support wireless messaging and eventually VoiceXML processing.

Collaborative Work Groups: A service supporting workgroup collaboration across hp’s global enterprise via plug-ins to those collaborative solutions. Sub-Portals: The ability to easily assimilate and present smaller enterprise portals and web content. Campaigns / Targeted Promotions: A service that support presenting targeted promotional materials to select groups and users (to communicate key objectives). Click Through Analysis: The ability to monitor and report user portal usage metrics. Accessibility: Improving accessibility to portal features. Security: Digital ID card support (e.g. ActivCard, etc). And Many More…

Many new capabilities and services are planned for @hp. Demands and expectations on the @hp architecture will continue to expand, often in unpredictable ways. A good point in @hp’s evolution to re-examine some strategic issues.
