Prayer is an act of worship in which we speak to God, not only with our words, but from our hearts. 3 To Whom Should We Pray? Philippians 4:6 Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. We should pray to the true God only, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and not to idols, saints or anything God has created. 11 Why does Jesus want us to remember the relationship we have with God by faith? Romans 8:15 You did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave to fear, but a spirit of sonship that you may cry out, “Abba (Daddy) Father.” Ephesians 3:12 In Him and through faith in Him, we may approach God with freedom and confidence. 16 For What Do We Pray in the Second Petition? We do not pray that God's kingdom of power would come, because that is already present everywhere, but we ask God to give us His Holy Spirit so that we believe His Word and lead godly lives as members of His kingdom of grace.

17 God’s Kingdom which comes is Christ’s Rule Established in our hearts by the Holy Spirit through the Word Results in our believing the Word of salvation and living a life of faith “Send the Holy Spirit to strengthen Christ’s rule in our hearts and to spread that rule.”

18 God’s Will GOSPEL PREACHED PURELY ALL PEOPLE BELIEVE IN JESUS LIVE A LIFE OF FAITH OPPOSED BY THE DEVIL, WORLD, SINFUL NATURE BUT

19 God BREAKS AND DEFEATS THE ENEMY STRENGTHENS AND KEEPS US FIRM THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN

20 DAILY BREAD is ALL OUR BODILY NEEDS God’s gracious gift Which we trust God to supply each day Received by us with thanksgiving. The Fourth Petition

21 FORGIVENESS means assures us God graciously wipes all our sins away for Jesus’ sake. God graciously answers our prayers in keeping with His will. Moves us to forgive as we have been forgiven. The Fifth Petition

22 We Respond to God’s Gift of Forgiveness Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ, God forgave you. "Inasmuch as we sin greatly against God every day and yet He forgives it all through grace, we must always forgive our neighbor who does us harm, violence, injustice and bears malice toward us... If you do not forgive, do not think that God forgives you" (Large Catechism III 94-95).

27 How can we be sure that these petitions are acceptable to our Father in heaven? 1 Chronicles 29:11 When we ask anything from Him we are giving all glory to God. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor...
