29 doc.: IEEE 802.15-14-0699-00 Submission CMB Background Wireless connectivity is already used for healthcare applications both within hospitals and in residential situations. This provides flexibility to clinicians and healthcare providers and mobility and convenience for the patients. Low Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks (LR-WPAN) are already widely being used for this. Applications include electrocardiography and the monitoring of pulse oximetry, blood pressure and glucose levels as well as other patient vital signs like respiration, heart rate and temperature. In China as in the US, LR-WPAN is part of the growing Internet of Things Industries; it has been applied in hospital areas for medical and related info communications. IEEE Std. 802.15.4 Chinese medical devices will make use of the existing high volume applications in the Chinese medical bands. Slide 29 November 2014 Liang Li, Vinno

It became apparent that we would have to do a revision instead of an amendment. Session 2 Undertook major rewrite of the TITLE, SCOPE, NEED and STAKEHOLDERS Had to be brief since we had a comment that some clauses were a bit too verbose The committee reviewed several drafts of these clauses before settling in on acceptable text Session 3 Finalized revision PAR on IEEE SA My Project website Finalized the CSD Reviewed and edited document “15-14-0658-xx-007a PAR and CSD Comments and Responses” Session 4 Prepared minutes and closing report.

89 doc.: IEEE 802.15-14-0699-00 Submission, Slide 89 IETF 6tisch Working Group Scope 6tisch Goal: The 6tisch Working Group is focused upon enabling IPv6 over the TSCH mode of the IEEE802.15.4e standard. The extent of the problem space for the WG is one or more Low Power and Lossy Networks (LLNs), eventually federated through a common backbone link via one or more LLN Border Routers (LBRs). Work Item 1: Produce "6TiSCH architecture" to describe the design of 6TiSCH networks. This document will highlight the different architectural blocks and signaling flows, including the operation of the network in the presence of multiple LBRs. Initially, the document will focus on distributed routing operation over a static TSCH schedule. Work Item 2: Produce an Information Model containing the management requirements of a 6TiSCH node. This includes describing how an entity can manage the TSCH schedule on a 6TiSCH node, and query timeslot information from that node. A data model mapping for an existing protocol (such as Concise Binary Object Representation (CBOR) over the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP)) will be provided. Work Item 3: Produce "Minimal 6TiSCH Configuration" defining how to build a 6TiSCH network using the Routing Protocol for LLNs (RPL) and a static TSCH schedule. It is expected that RPL and the Objective Function 0 (OF0) will be reused as-is.

The chair of the committee acts as a facilitator with little power to legislate. The chair must be knowledgeable about the subject but also know how a standard may be used by various segments of the industry. A chairperson should be a leader-diplomat-observer, in equal proportions. Also, the chairperson should not be a doer, perfectionist or obstructionist. This is consistent with the view of the chairperson as a skilled leader with strong negotiation skills who delegates.

105 doc.: IEEE 802.15-14-0699-00 Submission Proposal to Create a New Task Group (15.3e) Description of the need for a very high data rate, very low range MAC standard as described in 15- 14-0612-04 Use of downloading a high resolution movie to a person passing through a toll gate (e.g. train passenger toll gate) without slowing that person down Range of 50 mm Data rate sufficient to pass 10 GBytes in 100 ms Simple association process Proposal is to use 802.15.3d PHY Could it be used for other applications? Yes, TG3d group is considering other applications, but since this application needs to be completed quickly it should focus on the application at hand. Vending machine use? Yes, but 2 minutes would be allowed rather than 100 ms Mobile to Mobile? Yes Security Needs? Eavesdropping? Integrity? Security needs have not been documented, will investigate market support Spectrum? 60 GHz target Point to point simplifies MAC, beyond transmit power control, other issues? need >30 Gb/s, depending upon 100 Limit focus of applications from 3d? Yes, since not all are close proximity 105 November 2014 Pat Kinney, Kinney Consulting, LLC

106 doc.: IEEE 802.15-14-0699-00 Submission Proposal to Create a New Task Group (15.3e) Questions (continued) why not use 802.11? Firstly, the effort started in 15.3d which seemed closest to the application, also the overhead is much lower in 802.15.3 vs. 802.11 Comment - adding any radio to a smart phone is a serious business discussion e.g. DRSC Straw Polls In response to a straw poll, there were 35 interested in this MAC effort (~ 60 present), with about 18 that would participate. In response to another straw poll, 32 supported the formation of a study group, there were no objections to this study group formation. 106 November 2014 Pat Kinney, Kinney Consulting, LLC

Shadowing is not a critical problem, only need a fixed beam to the train which will be translated to individual callers placement of base station every several hundred meters? shouldn’t need so many have you looked into a mechanism of using distributed medium like a lossy coax? Yes, similar to propagation in tunnels, some issues and some advantages Straw poll for interest resulted in 14 individuals (60 present), with 7 wishing to participate in an Interest Group on High Speed Rail Communication, i.e. IG HSRC.
