Maersk Line Presentation By Mr. David Williams, Managing Director of East China Cluster 09 Jan 2015 Leading the way to innovation

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Maersk Line is an enabler of global trade, connecting products and services to people and economies around the globe Maersk Line is the largest container shipping company in the world – our fleet of 600+ vessels make some 35,000 port calls every year. We are 25,000 people with 325 offices in 125 countries around the world. Maersk Line East and Central China Cluster the first cluster to export more than 1 million forty-foot-equivalent units with a group effort of 527 dedicated employees in 12 self-own local branch offices

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Embedding energy efficiency in vessel : Slow steaming Designed for lower speeds It started with a simple idea: move at a lower speed. A small change in knots cuts fuel consumption and lowers CO 2 emissions. The Triple-E is designed to be efficient across vessel operations. 17.5 20 22.5 25 The above-mentioned reductions include propulsion power only and assume a fixed relation between fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Figures relate to emissions per nautical mile and are based on general data for larger container vessels. Size and speed matter An energy-efficient engine propels the Triple-E class. The engine operates at low propeller revolutions and uses larger propellers than traditional container vessels. With this combination less propulsive power is required.

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ CO 2 Emission-We’re a small step ahead of the industry CO 2 per container- kilometre reduced since 2007 CO 2 per container- kilometre be reduced before 2020 20 Triple-E vessels will produce 50% less CO 2 per container-kilometre than the industry average on the Asia-Europe trade lane 34% 40% 50% Maersk has set itself stiff targets – to reduce CO2 emissions per container moved by 40% by 2020, compared to 2007 levels. So far the company has reduced its CO2 emissions by 25%.

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Turning waste heat into energy Waste heat recovery system Fitted on each Triple-E vessel and it also reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 9%. Maersk Line is the first company in the industry to install waste heat recovery systems as standard on all its new ships 58 Maersk vessels, including the eight E-class vessels, already have a waste heat recovery system fitted. The new 20 Triple-E class vessels will all follow suit. For the Triple-E, the waste heat recovery system cost will be significant at USD 10 million dollars for each vessel. 1.The system captures the hot exhaust gas emitted from the engine to produce extra energy for propulsion 2.Then supplies the steam to a turbine connected to a generator, which then recovers electrical energy 3.The engine’s waste heat has been changed into valuable electric power, in the process cutting a ship’s CO2 emissions FACTS How it works

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Cradle-to-Cradle : Improved vessel recycling and reuse with new ‘passport’ The Triple-E will set new standards in ship The passports will document approximately 95% (by weight) of the materials used to build the ships, thereby enabling better recycling of parts and materials used in the construction of the vessels. The passport, which will be updated throughout the life of the ship, is a database listing the material composition of the main parts of the ship. Cradle- to-cradle refers to the optimum lifecycle of the materials used in a product. With the new ‘Cradle-to-Cradle Passport’, Maersk Line will be better able to recycle parts and materials used in the construction of the vessel.

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Customer Charter - committed to getting the basics right. A performance overview of the major service interactions and operational execution Maersk Line provides.

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Remote Container Monitoring – allows us and our reefer customers to have visibility over the entire supply chain RCM Optimise the Network and Care for Customers Anything the reefer knows, you will know !

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Daily Maersk - provide frequency and reliability on the world’s busiest trade lane. From weekly to daily cut-offs Daily Maersk will consist of more than 70 vessels operating a daily service between four ports in Asia and three Asia and three ports in Europe in what amounts to a giant ocean conveyor belt for the world’s busiest trade lane. Cutting supply chain costs Daily Maersk reduces the need for storage and eliminates the need for adding expensive buffer days to a forecasted arrival. Think transportation time, not transit time Daily Maersk is the most customer focused setup in the industry. We abolish "transit time” as a reference and introduce “transportation time” which refers to the complete time from cut-off cargo availability.

Insert department name via ‘View/Header and Footer…’ Thank You!
