8 Acquire and retain knowledge and skills in CPR and First Aid Training material design and variety is critical – Game-design application to CPR skill practice – Use of simulation to hone decision making in emergency situations – Online training will go beyond linear and branching programming to embrace adaptive course design, especially for refresher training – Event management will be included in instruction » Pit crew approach will be taught to lay rescuers in the workplace and the community – End-of-course “testing” via completing a hands-on scenario – Regular post-course reinforcement of skills via materials, emails, apps and team drills will be an integrated part of course delivery

9 Acquire and retain knowledge and skills in CPR and First Aid The instructor is key – Better design of initial instructor training program – Targeted training for conducting online skills testing – Instructor training to include the science behind the Guidelines – Regular refresher/reminders for instructors – Universal certification for all instructors, regardless of the provider for whom they teach.
