3 God’s Motives for Testing  To know whether or not we will obey (Deuteronomy 8:2, 16)  Because He is pleased with uprightness (1 Chronicles 29:17)  To show His justice in judgment (Jeremiah 17:10)  To make us better (Proverbs 17:3)

4 God Tested Abraham  Do I trust God with my future life on earth? (Genesis 12:1-7; Hebrews 11:8)  Do I trust God enough to let others have the best? (Genesis 13:8-13)  Do I honor God with my possessions, no matter the cost? (Genesis 14:17-24)  Do I trust God’s promises? (Genesis 15:1-6)

5 God Tested Abraham  Do I trust the promises of God that will not be fulfilled in my lifetime? (Genesis 15:7-11)  Do I take advantage of opportunities to do good and serve? (Genesis 18:1-8)  Am I willing to give to God the thing that is most precious to me? (Genesis 22:1-12; Hebrews 11:17-19)

6 Determine to pass the test! “ Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him…” (Job 13:15) “But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10)
