5 –The Large Area Telescope (LAT), designed and built by an International Collaboration from the United States, France, Italy, Japan, and Sweden, is fully operational. –In just a few days, the LAT has already corroborated many of the great discoveries of EGRET and AGILE; finding new sources as well; –Undoubtedly, the most exciting is yet to come as we start the all-sky survey phase and with time probe deeper and deeper into the high-energy Universe An important window of discovery on our Galaxy and the Universe beyond is now wide open.
