5 Abandoned the Amarna Revolution
About 2 years after taking the throne both changed their names Tutankhaten (“Living image of Aten”) – Tutankhamen Ankhesenpaaten to Ankhesenamun Reopened temples and moved to Thebes Believed in the Egyptian gods Typical Day for King Tut as Pharaoh Meeting with the Ambassadors People would bring him gifts 3 hour worship ceremony at the temple Meeting with Uncle Ay and Horemheb Formal dinner where he would see his wife.

6 Death and Tomb He died when he was 19 years old. The reason is still unknown. Scientists are still testing and researching this question. He was not known for his accomplishments as a pharaoh but for his age and the treasures found in his tomb. His mummy was placed in three coffins. Inner liner was made of solid gold. Buried in the Valley of the Kings. Tomb was found in 1922 by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon. His death mask is the best-known work of art from Ancient Egypt. Carnelian was the reddish stone used in his death mask. Weighs 24 lbs and is 21 inches tall by 15 inches wide. Gold was to show he was a pharaoh and because gold will not tarnish or deteriorate. Value of the death mask is priceless.
