3 A Community With Problems Statistically 604 households High student population Low numbers of children Above average income and employment deprivation Much higher proportion of HMOs than city average Incident rate per 100 households significantly higher than city 1 datazone within 15% most deprived within Stirling Council area 2 zones in top 5-20% in Scotland for education/skills, crime and housing domains Acquisitive crime, particularly from student residences Highest rate of opiate overdoses in Forth Valley Anecdotally Drug use inhibiting business trade Transient nature of residencies Chaotic lifestyles of some residents Poor property and estate maintenance Inappropriate waste presentation High levels of antisocial behaviour No obvious community- competing set of interests - business community, long term community, community activists, student community
