1 When in Doubt choose “C” Test Taking Strategies Presented By: Academic Insight Mentor: Claudia Akinsipe and Robert Yentumi

2 AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE Gather all material/ lecture notes Homework Assignments, Old quizzes Develop adequate study groups

3 EACH DAY!! Divide material into portions Study some of the material Go over what has been study and ADD more Take any practice exams available!

4 ZZZZ…ZZZ…. The Night Before the exam Take care of any issue that may cause distractions Don’t pull all nighter/ Get enough rest Pack testing materials

5 THE BIG DAY Eat a balanced breakfast !GO TO EXAM CONFIDENTLY!

6 MULTIPLE CHOSE QUESTIONS

7 TAKE YOUR TIME If the test is timed, don’t spend to much time on any one question Move on to the easier questions/go back to those skipped Don’t change 1 st answer options UNLESS absolutely positive

8 50/50 ELIMINATIONS If you can eliminate 2 wrong answer gives you a 50% of getting the right answer Choose better answer

9 READING PASSAGE EXAM

10 PASSAGES READ THE QUESTIONS 1 ST Now you know what to look for while reading the passages

11 MATHIMATICS

12 MATH CALCULATIONS HINT: transcribe the correct numbers/problem on to scrap paper Line up numbers If 1 st answer is wrong REread, REcopy, REtry

13 CHECK,FINISH,CHECK If you have time left over, RECHECK EXAM DON’T change all answer YOUR 1 ST ANSWER CHOICE IS USUALLY RIGHT!

14 REMEMBER More than likely you may not know all the material on the test, but its okay test are built to challenge your scope of knowledge.

15 FINAL TIPS Write as neat as possible, fill in scantron Answer all parts of the question Make sure your name, class, section, and professor name is on the exam. TURN IT IN AND BREATH.

16 AFTER THE EXAM Treat Yourself When exam is returned go over missed material, Ask questions!! so the same mistakes are not replicated on the next exam
