Mission Specifics Continued When: Starting today, Drop Date: Next Thursday Where: Dawes Middle School Why: To study how Newton’s Laws can be seen and tested through experimentation When: Starting today, Drop Date: Next Thursday Where: Dawes Middle School Why: To study how Newton’s Laws can be seen and tested through experimentation

Materials List 2 sheet of paper 1m of masking tape 7 straws 2 sheet of paper 1m of masking tape 7 straws 10 craft sticks 5 cotton balls * the opportunity to earn more supplies for hard work and ingenuity throughout the lab.

Procedure You may only use the materials provided You may not use the bag You may cut, bend, fold, snap, or trade your materials. If working with partner, you still only get 1 set of materials.

Objective To construct a vessel that will carry an egg, thru free fall, a distance of 3 meters and land safely on the ground using only a limited supply of materials!

Outcomes Identify where Newton’s first, second, and third laws apply to the situation. You will write a paragraph on drop day explaining how you see these laws working in your device. 2 nd Law: See how mass and acceleration can help identify how much force with which the egg hits the floor Identify where Newton’s first, second, and third laws apply to the situation. 8 FAQ’s All eggs will fall the same distance no matter how long you make it. No glue, only the provided masking tape. Work w/ a partner or alone. You don’t get the egg until the drop day. Can’t work on it outside of class unless you are working in this classroom. All eggs will fall the same distance no matter how long you make it. No glue, only the provided masking tape.
