3 What Is New Media? Interactivity: ability for the communication to change based on user input (e.g., video game). Content evolution from user input: users can create or change content (e.g., online bulletin board).

5 Asynchronous communication: sender and receiver do not have to be communicating at the same time (e.g., e-mail). Global accessibility (e.g., Internet). Mixing the media (e.g., online game with sight, sound, and text messages).

7 What Is a New Media Designer? Creativity and imagination are key. An artist creates works to be presented, while a designer creates works to be used. The job of the new media designer is to communicate.
