3 Overview IEEE Std 802.21™-2009 IEEE Standard for Local and metropolitan area networks - Part 21: Media Independent Handover Services Key Features Three services: Event Service, Command Service, and Information Service Defines a new functional entity called MIHF (MIH Function) Facilitates Multi-Radio network discovery and selection Provides abstracted services to higher layers. Communicates with the lower layers of the mobility- management protocol stack through technology-specific interfaces. MIH peer communication is performed through MIH Protocol 21-10-0129-02-0000
